About me…
Born in San Francisco, Ca, I was raised in Menlo Park, moved to Los Angeles for high school, and back to Palo Alto for college at Stanford. More of a tomboy growing up, I liked building forts, playing games, selling lemonade, and putting on plays. I had a wonderful childhood! In high school, I was on the swim and gymnastic teams, yearbook editor, class officer, and host to an AFS student from Germany. At Stanford, I majored in Journalism and minored in Photography, was a coxswain for men's crew and a sports columnist for the Stanford Daily. In my senior year, my sister and I opened a cookie store at Stanford Shopping Center and ran it for 19 years.
Entrepreneurial by nature. I've started many businesses. Being self-employed means I can call my own hours. I'm a successful real estate agent and love the freedom and flexibility it affords me. I have no set schedule and can build my schedule around the needs of my children.
I'm 5'8" and weigh 123 lbs. I live in Napa in a 3/2 house at the end of a cul-de-sac sort of in the country. I have a beautiful dog, Sage, a 7-year-old Golden Retriever. My passions include cooking, fiction writing, photography, running, hiking, X-country skiing, biking, reading, nutrition, computer, ... I've taught CPR, been an ESL Instructor, mentored teenagers, and been published. I am happy with who I am and ready to add a 2nd child to my family, giving him/her true love and devotion.
More About Me... (get ready to yawn)
I don't smoke and don't allow smoking in my home or in my car. I don't take drugs, either. I am a vegetarian and since high school. I really believe in good food - fruits, vegetables, nuts, grains and chocolate. I am a good cook who rarely uses a cookbook. I just create. That's sometimes good and sometimes not good. If you really like what I cook, well, that's too bad, you may never have it the same way again, however, if you don't like it, don't worry, 'cuz you'll never have it again. I am not a big shopper, I'd rather be out on a hike or walking my dog along the river. I enjoy and appreciate the beauty of the outdoors. I lived in Tahoe for 5 years and loved it! My parents have a place up there and I go up there often. Some day I hope to move back there. I work out 3-4 times a week, usually a run with Sage or a visit to the gym. I love playing on the computer, have taught myself all the software I use. I've written many short stories and 93 pages of a novel. In a few years I hope to finish it. :)
Not sure where to put this so I'll just stick it in right here...
I was able to breastfeed Kyle and would really like to try to do that again. How do you feel about that?
I believe...
Reading to my child and starting when he/she is just a baby is important
Music can sooth, stimulate, and innovate...even a new born baby.
Routine is important for a baby, infant, child, young adult. Routine creates responsibility.
Listening and praising, understanding and patience.
Totally in Education.
Religion
Spiritual in mind and body with a strong belief in the hereafter, I say my prayers every night and believe that church should be a positive place to learn love, kindness, loyalty and generosity with no fear of failure or punishment if one momentarily falters. However, I don’t believe church should be a place where sinners repeatedly repent and receive forgiveness for the same sin. I like stories and believe the Bible has great stories that impart insightful lessons on life. Church simply reinforces and reminds us to be good to one another that inturn enrich our lives.
Discipline
Discipline is the monitoring and enforcing of rules. Rules are set for direction, protection, and safety. When rules are broken, sometimes there are logical explanations and sometimes there are not. I feel it is important to hear one out before considering a punishment. I also believe in setting up checks and balances for consequences that do not follow the rules. If kids buy into an “if... then” agreement with rules, then they know what their punishment will be if they break the rules.
Childrearing
All aspects of childrearing are important to me. A child is like silly putty. They are moldable, impressionable, and bounding with energy to learn, play, and please. Teaching a child to be a good human being, enjoy learning, and be well rounded are the first things that come to mind.
Expectations
All I hope for is that my child loves and respects me and is happy with his/her life.
Goals
Happiness, an excellent education, and a positive outlook on life with love for family, friends, and fellow (wo)man. There's a whole lot more I could say but you are probably getting really bored and I'd really like to know about you...Email me and tell me about yourself, your thoughts, your goals, your hopes and dreams...
